چکیده

The shape modeling technique based on the implicit surface representation is used for generating threedimensional surface models that interpolate given sets of scattered points. A number of techniques for generating interpolating surfaces have been proposed and significant progress has been made in the last decade [1]. In addition, the implicit surface representation is also useful for interactive modeling of simple shapes [2] and three-dimensional scenes can be constructed as a set of implicit surfaces. For appropriate visualization of the threedimensional scenes, some additional effects such as water flows need to be added depending on the situation. The promising method for generating water flow is the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH [3]): a particlebased fluid simulation method. In the standard SPH, the fluid is discretized into a set of particles and obstacles in the simulation field are assumed to be represented as sets of dense particles. Harada et al. proposed another approach for SPH simulation that enables simulation in polygonbased scenes [4]. In this approach, the particle force acted by polygon obstacles is incorporated in addition to the forces acted by the surrounding particles. In this paper, we present a method of fluid simulation in three-dimensional scene with obstacles represented as implicit surfaces. In this method, the particle motion is formulated by adding the forces acted by the obstacles defined as implicit surfaces into the standard particle forces as in the SPH.

Using Langevin-Type Stochastic-Dynamical Particles for Sampling and Rendering Implicit Surfaces

We propose a new sampling method for 2D and 3D implicit surfaces. The method is based on a stochastic process defined by the Langevin equation with a Gaussian random-force term. Our Langevin equation describes a stochastic-dynamical particle, which develops in time confined around the sampled implicit surface with small width. Its numerically generated solutions can be easily moved onto the sur...

Construction of Non-Blobby Surface from Particles

This paper presents a method that can construct a surface with a thin region or sharp edges from particles. The surface is constructed in two stages. An implicit surface is generated by assigning a density distribution to each particle in the first step and then the surface constructed from the density distribution is changed to a surface with a thin region or sharp edges. Furthermore, the meth...

Reconstructing Surfaces of Particle-Based Fluids Using Anisotropic Kernels

In this paper we present a novel surface reconstruction method for particle-based fluid simulators such as Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics. In particle-based simulations, fluid surfaces are usually defined as a level set of an implicit function. We formulate the implicit function as a sum of anisotropic smoothing kernels, and the direction of anisotropy at a particle is determined by performing...

Pre-computed illumination for isosurfaces

Commercial software systems are available for displaying isosurfaces (also known as level sets, implicit surfaces, varieties, membranes, or contours) of 3D scalar-valued data at interactive rates, allowing a user to browse the data by adjusting the isovalue. We present a technique for applying global illumination to the resulting scene by precomputing the illumination for level sets and storing...

Particle Based Visualization of Stress Distribution Caused by the Aortic Valve Deformation

Medical and engineering technologies have developed the surgical simulators, which allow users to train for surgical skills. To perform the aortic valve replacement, which is one of the cardiovascular surgeries, it is necessary to examine not only the timing of the heart pulsating but also the stress distribution on the aortic valve. For pre-operative planning, we have visualized the stress on ...
